It tastes like Jam, It even looks like jam, but it´s nowhere near!! No sugar, No additives. I simply love Chia Seeds. Loaded with fiber, protein, antioxidants and omega 3 fatty acids, Chia seeds are good for both body and brain. Chia seeds has no taste so you can add pretty much any flavour to them. Even my little one has fallen for this Strawberry Chia Jam to go with her saturday pancakes.
Who said it has to be complicated to make healthy sweet things. I used to! But I´m discovering that it´s not. It might even be faster to make this than going to the supermarket to buy your ordinary jam (If you have the ingredients that is) These little seeds that vary in from light brown to black in colour are also a mood and energy booster.
Strawberry Chia Jam
- 2 tablespoons of chia seeds
- 1 decilitre water
- 2 deciliter strawberries (either fresh or de-frosted)
- 2 dash of good quality vanilla powder
- juice of half a lemon
- 2 teaspoons of agave syrup
mix the chia seeds with water in a bowl. Make sure that all the chia seeds are covered. Set a side for about 10 min or till the mixture has become a gel.
Mix with the rest of the ingredients and pour the jam into a glass jar with a lid.
The jam will stay fresh in the fridge for about one week.
