Today I will start a new challenge!
I´ve always wanted to become a morning person – you know – one of those people who gets up at 5.30 to meditate, go for a run or do yoga and shower and maybe even have breakfast ready for the rest of the family before they wake up. This past year I have been extremely tired and in need for MANY hours of sleep (when I could sleep at all) but now that I have a little more energy I´ve decided to give it a try! – why not! what´s to loose?
Getting up at 5.30 will give me the opportunity to get some time alone for training and meditation.
According to Maxwell Malts self-help book Psycho-Cybernetics from 1960 it takes (a minimum of) 21 days for a new habit to settle.
Maxwell Maltz was a plastic surgeon that in the 1950´s noticed that his patients seemed to take about 21 days to get used to their new faces.
There are loads of interesting articles out there on the subject and In this 21 day trial I will ignore the fact that a much later study from University College London in 2009 shows that the average time for a habit to stay is closer to 66 days but can vary from 18-254 days. The 60´s had some other good things in them so maybe this is one of them.
For the next 21 days, I’ll embrace my process of change and set my alarm at 5.30am 🙂
I´ll keep you opdated on the process once every 5-7 days thourg the 21 days period. Im exited to see if it works… goodmorning to all of you 🙂
